After struggling for twenty years with body image, eating disorders, and other self abuse, I found Yoga Today. It saved my life five years ago, and I find myself coming back to its supportive and restorative classes. I have trouble interacting with people in outside yoga classes - it flares up old insecurities. But the kind and truthful nature of the Yoga Today instructors, especially Adi, make me trust and believe in myself and others. Thank you so much. You help me connect my mind to my body with forgiveness and love. I am grateful every day that Yoga Today exists and that I am fortunate enough to have found it. Thank you again, especially Adi, for helping me treat my mind and body with kindness, forgiveness and love.

Feeling Whole Again

When I finally decided to recover from over four years of anorexia I had no idea what a mind and body connection was. It felt like my mind and body were two separate entities that completely hated one another. After a year yoga I am finally able to understand my body is not worthless and can actually do amazing things (like headstand and insect pose). So, I just wanted to thank everyone on the YogaToday crew for helping me feel whole again. :)

Personal Healing Story

A few years ago I went through a nasty divorce and as I live out in the countryside in France it is hard to go to a regualar yoga class. I followed Yoga Today daily during this entire period and it really helped me physically as well as emotionally to cope with my situation.

After that I had major surgery on my ankle and couldn't walk for 6 months. I continued to do Yoga Today very modified and it has helped me to heal. I continue to do it to stay in shape and I'm able to follow most of the poses, even at age 60. Thanks to the wonderful instructions of your teachers.

Yay Yoga Today teachers!

I just heard about a book on NPR outlining the possible perils of yoga, one of the main ones being that so many teachers out there are ill-equipped to teach. At first I was angry that the author was criticizing yoga, but then I remembered that during the two years I belonged to a studio, I injured myself multiple times. I strained my lower back four or five times, to the point where I could barely move for a few days, I pulled my hamstring, I sprained my ankle, and I constantly strained my wrists doing chataranga without the strength to back it up. My favorite class was the Ashtanga primary series, and the back of my neck would usually be sore after the shoulder stand sequence, and I never really knew why. I think yoga is wonderful, but I injured myself so often because my teachers persuaded me that I was able to do yoga beyond my ability. I've been doing daily classes at Yoga Today for over a year now, and I have not injured myself once. I feel that's a true testament to the teaching ability of Sarah, Adi, and Neesha. I'm happy to have found such gifted teachers at Yoga Today. I am in good hands.

Recovery and Coping

I belong to a support group for loved ones effected by addiction and it's related behaviors. One of the members is really into Yoga and she is 64 yrs old! Her demeanor was so amazingly calm and serene while she struggles in coping with her son's addiction...

Eight months ago I decided to quit smoking cigarettes and 6 months ago I started practicing with Yoga Today. My son's addictions are not negatively affecting me nearly as much as it has over the years.

I'm so very grateful for YogaToday.com because it has shown me the path to the balance I need within myself.
